Monthly Roundup: Productivity drives latest Mailbird for Mac updates

May delivers a new batch of productivity boosting features to Mailbird for Mac users. From small tweaks to big usability enhancements, this month offers something for everyone.
It’s often said that April showers bring May flowers. While I can’t attest to that saying’s validity, one thing’s for sure: new Mailbird for Mac features are blooming.
“We talked a lot with our Early Adopters and regular users,” says Michael Bodekaer Jensen, co-founder of Mailbird. “Through these conversations, we focused on core features that are designed to make the daily email experience enjoyable and would complement our beautifully minimalist UI.”
The goal of the Mailbird development team, explains Jensen, has always been to deliver essential features users need, while still being powerful enough to drive daily productivity.
Highlights of new Mailbird for Mac features
Snooze conversations
Like its alarm clock namesake, snoozing emails will cause one or more messages to be temporarily removed from your inbox and reappear at a later time.
Snoozing allows users to delay acting upon non-urgent messages that don’t need immediate attention—keeping inboxes clean and distraction-free without permanently deleting them.
Instant search by sender
If you’ve ever wanted to quickly search for messages from a particular person, the latest Mailbird for Mac version lets you accomplish this by simply clicking on the sender’s avatar.
“Although it seems small, this is one of the most popular features,” says Jensen. “Our customers love the ability to quickly search by clicking on the sender’s avatar instead of going through the traditional search bar.”
Snippets for often-used text
Mailbird developers added this time-saving feature to eliminate the need to manually type and retype the same copy.
Whether in the form of an email receipt confirmation, a thank you message, or an out-of-office notification, snippets give users quick access to frequently used copy, rather than having to type it every time it’s needed
Select multiple email conversations
Whether you need to archive a series of conversations on a completed project, delete a long list of old newsletters, or drag several messages to a different folder, this feature enables users to batch perform actions on multiple emails. This eliminates the tediousness of manually repeating the same action on individual messages.
Copy email subject lines
A small but very convenient addition, the ability to quickly copy a message’s subject line gives users a simple way to paste and reference email messages within Mailbird and other apps or documents.
“Usability is something we care deeply about here at Mailbird,” says Jensen. “Our users' feedback is invaluable in helping us design and shape even the smallest details, such as this one.”
Filter unread messages
Users with busy inboxes will find the addition of the unread filter especially handy, allowing them to quickly locate and address all new and potentially urgent messages with greater clarity and speed. With a single click, filtering unread messages ensures that new emails don't get lost in a sea of read items.
Third-party app integrations
Custom apps allow users to turn their inbox into a productivity hub by integrating third-party apps directly into Mailbird.
“This enables customers to add any app imaginable,” says Jensen. “By giving them a blank canvas, users can transform Mailbird and customize it to suit their own unique workflow.”
WhatsApp, Jensen explains, has become one of his favorite apps to use within Mailbird.
“It's been designed, customized, and adapted to work especially well as a Mailbird sidebar app,” says Jensen. “This creates a unified and convenient experience for reading both email and IMs.”
Many more features to come
“Our team worked on these features by staying in touch with both users and Early Adopters,” says Jensen. “And as you can see, this month’s newest additions are proof positive that we never disregard anything as ‘insignificant’. If enough users voice a need for a feature, we’ll always consider it when defining our product roadmap.”
